May is the Shoalhaven Celebration of Food Month, and the award-winning restaurants, wineries, distilleries, breweries and venues that populate the Shoalhaven have all pulled some mouth-wateringly good events together.
The World of Musicals – 9 May
Starting with some entertainment, the World of Musicals Concert has graced stages across the globe; an incredible and unique live production of classic songs from iconic shows such as: Fiddler On The Roof, The Phantom of the Opera, Mamma Mia, West Side Story, Wicked, South Pacific, The Boy from Oz, Les Misérables, and many more. Colourful, inspiring and memorable musical classics, all performed by an international star-studded cast. Get ready to be enthralled and sing along to all your favourite and much-loved musical songs in one unforgettable evening.
Slow Food Fire and Smoke Long Lunch – 21 May
Half an hour from our beautiful properties in Culburra Beach and Shoalhaven Heads, you can enjoy a Long Lunch organised by Slow Food Berry to Jervis Bay, known for their ethical events. Local produce will be smoked and cooked over a fire for a wonderful shared meal as part of Food Month. Experience the special atmosphere in the gardens, views of the escarpment and the iconic farm building where lunch will be held.
If you’re an expert level foodie, drive straight from lunch to South Nowra just fifteen minutes south for another Food Month event, where three chefs – Nick Gardner, and Michelle and Terry Robinson – invite you on a journey into the wild world of fermentation, showcased through local ingredients from the Shoalhaven Region. Dine on a six-course dinner with matching distillery drinks and local wines in an active distillery among stills, hops, grains & an open fire charcoal grill, and drink brews especially fermented for this night only!
Berry Celtic Festival – 28 May
If you don’t mind a jaunt north, drive up to the historic village of Berry for their Celtic Festival! Come see the marching of the massed bands in their distinctive kilts, musical items, Celtic fiddlers, highland dancing, enchanted singing, and of course, the battles of the medieval knights. Entry is just $10 with free entry for the kids, for a family-friendly event of fun, performance and culture, with stalls of food an unique wares to take home.
Love Locals Lunch – 28 May
Stay in everyone’s favourite coastal town Huskisson, and head to Husky Pub for their Love Locals Lunch – the most high-class bottomless brunch you’ll ever experience, and another stop on the Shoalhaven Celebration of Food Month tour. Dine on endless Mussels & Gin Spritz for two hours, provided by local producers: Jervis Bay Mussels, Tara Distillery, Jervis Bay Brewing, Kraken Sourdough, Vincentia Craft Butchery.
